Beginner calligraphy course with Ink and Flow

Course description

Join Kirstie from Ink and Flow for a 4 week beginner calligraphy course (workshops bi-weekly) learning the basics of Modern Calligraphy which will give you all the confidence you need to move forward and create beautiful calligraphy creations to share with your friends & family!

Each session will be held via zoom and will be fun & friendly leaving you inspired and motivated to practice in your own time ahead of the next session!

The course is recorded and emailed over the following morning so if you can’t make the sessions live you can catch up in your own time.

Course structure

The course is broken down into 4 workshops detailed below…

Week 1
Tuesday 9th April 7 – 9pm

The basics
The journey starts write here! In this first workshop, Kirstie will talk you through your kit, explain and show you how to use the equipment and get you going on warm up exercises before moving onto capital letters.

Week 2
Tuesday 23rd April 7 – 9pm
Lowercase letters & joining techniques
You will start to have fun with lowercase letters and connecting letters and words together. Kirstie will help you tackle tricky transitions and will help with any questions you might have at this stage on your calligraphy journey.

Week 3
Tuesday 7th May 7 – 9pm
Adding shape to words & flourishing
Now you have had practice with your words and connecting letters together, Kirstie will teach you how to start thinking about adding shape in your words by creating ‘bounce’ and flourishing your entry and exit strokes. Let the magic happen!

Tuesday 21st May 7 – 9pm
Design hierarchy & composition, Cards, Tags and Metallic inks
In the final workshop of the course, you will have fun learning to design and create beautiful gift tags and cards, working with hierarchy and putting it all together with metallic ink.

What’s included?

Beginner Calligraphy Kit
If booking with a kit you will receive the calligraphy Starter kit show here ahead of the course. (There will be an added extra of 1 x metallic ink, a replacement box, paintbrush, and 2 blank cards included in your kit)

Private Facebook group access
Access to a private facebook group with fellow students and the opportunity to share images of your work and of course ask Kirstie and each other questions as you move through the course

1-2-1 feedback
Throughout the course, Kirstie will be on hand via the private facebook group (or via email if you don’t have facebook) to answer any questions you may have. There will also be time for a Q&A at the end of each workshop as well as ample opportunity to ask questions during each workshop.

What else do I need?

In addition to the kit included you will need the below

• A pencil

Please note

• Once your kit has been posted, course tickets are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend all sessions, you can move to another course.

• If you miss one of the sessions, Kirstie will send you a recording after the workshop and will happily answer any questions you may have.
